Fine Grit for Chicks & Flocks, 8lb

This small sized grit (in a value-sized bag!) is ideal for young birds and full-grown bantams. Here at headquarters, we've been surprised at just how much our grown birds love it it, too. We now have it on hand to offer our flocks of all ages, year-round.

This grit is simply insoluble, crushed granite to aid digestion. If your chickens don't have access to fresh pasture, or if the ground is frozen, grit is a "must" to keep them healthy.

Older birds can be offered grit free choice, but young chicks sometimes mistake grit for feed and consume too much. For young chicks, you can mix 1-2 tablespoons of grit into 1 quart of feed so that they get a little, but not too much.
